Volunteers
We currently have a small group of non residential volunteers who assist us in various ways. We have found that having a volunteer programme supports the principle of the vision held by the Trustees that states, “we choose to live and/or work together inspired by the desire to know and serve Universal Truth”. Our volunteers assist in the various departments such as kitchen; garden and home care and are a valued resource. Our volunteers are also invited to attend our morning meetings where they have the opportunity to join the staff group for mutual sharing, support and encouragement. They are also invited to attend the Newbold educational sessions that take place here weekly. Feedback from our volunteers has informed us that they gain immense satisfaction from coming and sharing our beautiful house and gardens and working together as part of a group and are pleased to be able to clearly see and feel the positive impact they have on Newbold.
Our aim is to encourage more volunteers from the wider Findhorn/Forres community who feel inspired by the idea of contributing, in a practical way, to the care of Newbold - the house, garden and community. If you would like more information or wish to be sent an application form, please contact the office either by phone or e-mail.
What our Volunteers say about us
We enjoy learning from others and enjoy the process of working out with others how to do things. It is rewarding to produce organic food, which is then used where it is produced. It is good to be invited to eat with the group and others at Newbold House. It is good to see what we produce being appreciated by the cooks.
It is good to volunteer for something which has concrete results.
It is a peaceful place to volunteer and is relaxing, also stimulating and thought provoking.. We both always feel better after our volunteer sessions.
There are unexpected results- often through talking to people - new ideas/new links which can carry on outside Newbold House. This all helps with feeling part of both the Newbold community and the wider community.
We know we can join in with the attunement and the educational programme for working guests and look forward to being able to attend some of the evening sessions about some of the ideals/ethos.
We welcome the volunteer meetings and the opportunity there for feedback each way.

I enjoy gardening and helping with food preparation. The most rewarding and fulfilling aspect of volunteering here is the friendships I have made and being part of a team. It takes me out of the house and I can learn new cooking techniques. It is a worthwhile activity!
