Newbold House People

Newbold House is composed of a group of members who hold overall responsibility for the vision, purpose, ethos, strategies and functioning of our community services and continuous development. This team provides the stability, consistency, inspiration, leadership, mentoring and facilitation of the house and many residents, be they working guests, committed volunteers, Wwoofers, paid and non-paid staff.

The Newbold House Community people

Because a Community of our size, interests and focus is so diverse, it is natural for there to be a regular entry and exit in our membership, depending on the busyness of the physical and education seasons, the availability of our working guests and volunteers, and the needs and rhythms of the house.

At the time of writing (October 2007) our stable core of members and co-workers includes ...

Beth, Christopher and Sarah

aBeth joined Newbold House on 1st November 2006. Originally from Canada, Beth grew up in the States. She is mother to our youngest house member, Sarah, aged 2. Sarah's most prized possession at this stage is her “blankey” (a little pink comforter); she also loves drawing.

Christopher joined Newbold House on 1st November (with his partner Beth). Christopher is both the garden focaliser and house focaliser – meaning that he carries the greatest responsibility for Newbold House. After thirteen years building up a 40 acre mixed dairy farm and farm shop he moved to the Findhorn Foundation where he cared for the main vegetable and flower garden at Cullerne House for another thirteen years. After two years in the Foundation Management team he is full of excitement at the opportunity to engage with the Newbold Garden and Community.

Mary
aMary is originally from Ireland, but has lived most of her life in Scotland. She trained as a counsellor and has worked in the addictions field. Mary is the most experienced of the Newbold community, having lived here since 2004.

Massimo
aHello! My name is Massimo; I come from Italy. Originally I was an IT person, but through several transformations I became a Biodanza teacher. I am here as a consequence of a mixture of amazing coincidences. I hold a growing intention to become a stable member and to contribute to the development of this lovely community.
Matthew
aHi - On my first visit to NewBold I knew I had to be here. I love living in a spiritual community and I feel I can really grow here by following the lessons the Universe puts my way. I feel very blessed to be part of the Newbold community and to have connection with the Findhorn Foundation.

Minke
minkeLast but not least - we daren’t overlook our resident cat, Minke, who indeed has been here longer than any of the humans. Minke has found a way of being let in and out of her favourite spaces (the family room and sanctuary) and plaintively cajoling passers-by into filling her food bowl. As a result she’s now somewhat over-sized but enormously content!
