Develop your food growing skills in the beautiful setting of the Newbold House Community’s working Victorian walled garden.

    Programme Aims

    1. To share the principles and practice of sustainable and organic growing so that participants develop their abilities as growers of vegetables, fruits and herbs.

    1. To create together a varied, enjoyable, informative and active week for everyone wanting to “grow their own” whether in a small back garden, allotment or smallholding.

The magical walled garden at Newbold House will be the setting for four seasonal 5 day residential courses of practical learning about growing vegetables, fruit and herbs. Although the primary focus will be on learning skills, we will also develop our understanding of gardening both through direct experience and brief presentations on horticulture and garden biology. These will be backed up with written material for later reference. Principles of Permaculture Design (based on imitating natural systems in our gardens) will be discussed alongside those of more traditional organic gardening. We will visit other private and community gardens and there will be films to share around innovative approaches to gardening in the evenings. As much as possible we will eat our own and other local and organic produce.

Authentic Movement Retreat - with Fran Lavendel

A springtime retreat in beautiful tranquil surroundings. This retreat is open to all who have some experience of the Authentic Movement discipline.

We shall practise both as movers and as witnesses, engaging in direct embodied experience of each moment through deep awareness of our physical being and giving attention to language that expresses the immediacy of each moment

This workshop is a chance to joyfully return to the sacred homeland of the dancing body, and to open to the insights which these dances, woven together with Qi Gong, story, song and ritual, can offer for our own life stories.
