Who we are

Newbold House is a community of people from different walks of life who share a common vision for Newbold’s aims, values and services. This includes providing a loving and nurturing environment for our guests who come here on workshops; retreats; as working guests or simply to enjoy the hospitality that we offer.
Our main purpose is to provide transformational experiences for individuals, groups and organizations which bring them closer to the spiritual dimension and so contribute to a more compassionate, joyful and peaceful world.
We work with the healing energy and sacredness of our home and gardens and allow it to nurture us and help us grow.

The concept of Focalization

A focalizer, in the 'Findhorn' tradition, is a person who "holds the focus" for a certain activity.  Here is the Findhorn definition:

The focalizer is not intended to be a leader in the sense of someone who gives orders, but is rather someone who, by virtue of their ability to attune to the needs of the whole, achieves respect.
(Alex Walker, The Kingdom Within, Findhorn Press, 1994).

Our community comprises of a residential core staff group;  paying and volunteer guests on our core programmes; committed volunteers from Forres and the surrounding area and WWOOFers (World Wide Opportunities in Organic farms, www.wwoof.org).

We are part of the wider Findhorn Foundation Community, which includes many organizations and individuals held under the umbrella of the New Findhorn Association. The Findhorn Foundation Spiritual tradition represents our cultural and practical foundations.
